Curtain runners 4 for use in a curtain board 1 are provided with a wire 6 the lower end of which is formed with a loop 7 the free end of which is formed with a needle-shaped point 8 for piercing the curtain. The head 5 of the wire is of rectangular cross-section and engages in a tapered hole 12 in the runner to prevent rotation of the wire. Other means to prevent rotation of the wire in the runner may be substituted for the rectangular head 5. When wooden runners are used they may be rubbed with paraffin wax or they may be boiled in melted paraffin wax under pressure in an autoclave.
