Abstract

732,502. Thermal regenerators. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Feb. 25, 1953 [Feb. 28, 1952], No. 5267/53. Class 64 (1). The filling of a thermal regenerator, e.g. for a hot gas engine or a refrigerating system, is embedded at its periphery in the walls of the regenerator housing. In one form, the inner and outer edges of metal gauze rings 23 are clamped between rings 21, 22 which are then secured together to form the casing. The rings 21, 22 may be made of a thermoplastic resin which is heated to secure the rings together. Alternatively, metal rings may be fixed together by welding or adhesive synthetic resin. In another form, an annular filling formed by winding wire on a core is rolled over a layer of heated thermoplastic substance to form the outer wall, and a layer of the same substance is provided on the inner surface. Alternatively, the regenerator.may be cylindrical, without an inner wall. Specification 702,640 is referred to.
