Abstract
731,033. Moving display apparatus. SOC. D'APPAREILLAGE ELECTRO-MICROMECANIQUE S.A.P.M.I. July 20, 1953 [Jan. 16 1953], No. 20003/53. Class 3 (1). Anadvertisingapparatus comprises a non-spherical body of revolution 14, a closed track 3, means for keeping the body in position relative to the track so that the body appears to be substantially tangent to the track and means 7, e.g. an electric motor hidden from an observer for driving the body along the track the surface of the body being such that the body seems to roll along the track when it is in movement under the impulse of the driving means. One or more additional bodies such as 15 may be fixed to the body 14. As shown the bodies 14, 15 are rings which are welded together, the lower ring 14 being also welded to an arm 12 which projects from a turntable 11. The weight of the rings is balanced by a counter-weight 13 and the turntable is rotated by the electric motor 7. The junction of the ring 14 and arm 12 is positioned on the track 3, which is a circular slot, in a casing 1 which conceals the turntable and motor, so that the illusion is given that the ring 14 rolls round the track, with the ring 15 rolling on the .ring 14.
