Abstract

726,975. Net-making machines. DRUMMONDVILLE COTTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 23, 1953 [Nov. 1, 1952], No. 2027/53. Class 74 (1). [Also in Group VII] Nets having double weaver's knots are produced on a machine provided with rows of retaining pins 14 and rotatable hooks 16 arranged in opposed relationship, creel threads D being wound by twine tubes 20 in two full loops about the retaining pins and the corresponding hooks. The hooks are rotated to twist the loops while the feeding portion of each creel thread is moved diagonally across the loops to one side of the hook. Shuttle threads G which are located between each pair of creel threads are passed by the shuttles 18 through the twisted loops. The twine tubes are then moved to the opposite side of the hooks, whereupon the shuttles are passed downwardly through the loops to their original positions, and the hooks are rotated to untwist the loops. A row of restraining pins 12 is moved forwardly and downwardly while the loops are slipped off the hooks on to the pins 12 which are then moved towards pins 14 as the knots are tightened by a tension device 24. The pins 12 and finally pins 14 are then withdrawn and the completed row of mesh drawn backwards the desired distance. The knots of succeeding rows are alternately right and left handed.
