Abstract

726,867. Automatic exchange systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 5, 1953 [June 10, 1952], No. 15559/53. Class 40 (4). In a system in which calls are set up over the discharge paths of gas-tubes BA, BB in the manner described in Specifications 733,577 and 725,733, including a marking circuit TS wherein the cathode of each of the tubes B6-8 is connected to both the striking electrode and the cathode of the succeeding tube by a resistance and a condenser respectively in order that the tubes may strike one at a time and in succession on the reception of dialling impulses, an auxiliary self-extinguishing tube B2 is provided to restore the marking circuit to normal in response to a larger amplitude pulse, and an additional self-extinguishing tube B3 serves to restore the first counting tube B6 to normal if the cradle switch contacts are vibrated to send further pulses when the handset is replaced. Such spurious pulses which would fire marker tube B6 are insufficient to re-operate the clearing down tube B2 because of the time-constant of condenser 21 in its cathode circuit. The striking electrode of tube B6 is, however, connected both to the cathode of the pulse repeating tube B1 and to a potentiometer R31-R33 and in consequence tube B3 which is fired by a spurious pulse and is connected across the resistors R32, R33 applies a restraining pulse to tube B6.
