[Also in Group XXIX] A machine for plastering a wall or ceiling 3 consists of a housing 6 secured to a part 5 which is movable along guides 1, 2, the housing having a flared mouth 8 containing a highspeed grooved roller 9, a flexible rail 12 bearing on the top of the roller and a deflector 18 which ensures that plaster supplied by a pump (not shown) through the pipe 16 to the back of the roller is evenly distributed therealong, the arrangement being such that the plaster carried in the roller grooves past the rail 12 is thrown against the wall or ceiling, excess plaster being strickled off, as the machine moves along the guides 1, 2, by the trailing edge of the mouth 8, and returned, by the rotating roller, to the back of itself. A rail 13 opposite to the rail 12 may be provided, and both rails are sufficiently flexible to permit the passage of small stones. The roller 9 is driven by a motor on the part 5, through a chain, belt or shaft, the same motor being employed to effect the movement of the part 5 on the guides 1, 2, the motor shaft, for this purpose, being provided with a pinion which meshes with a rack on the guide 2. Limit stops 21, 22 switch off the motor when the part 5 reaches its end positions. The grooves in the roller 9 may be continuous or interrupted, and they may be inclined in opposite directions relatively to the roller axis, to form a criss-cross pattern. The speed of the roller 9 may be adjustable according to the kind of plastering being done.
