722,000. Rotary hoes. FERGUSON, H., Inc. Feb. 26, 1951 [March 11, 1950], No. 4575/51. Class 6 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A rotor for a rotary hoe comprises a hubmember 15 having a series of radially-spaced pairs of holes 18 and a plurality of teeth 10, each tooth comprising a fastening portion provided with studs 12 which pass through the holes and a longitudinally-curved working portion, there being a stiffening rib 13 extending along the tooth to its outer end but curving at a different rate from the tooth, the rib being formed on the opposite side of the tooth from the studs. The studs are frusto-conical in shape and are hammered over to form rivets 19 retaining the studs in the holes 18. The teeth are forged and have the studs upset integrally during forging, the ribs acting as backing elements during upsetting.
