A supporting and driving apparatus, more particularly for interchangeable kitchen appliances, has a two-part casing on the base 2 of which are mounted a gear mechanism 5 driven by an electric motor 7, the base 2 also carrying an insulating panel 11 projecting beyond its rim on which are mounted the motor switch and connections. The top part 2 of the casing is moulded from artificial resin and serves as a cover.
