Abstract

719,703. Vertical looms. KIENER, C. June 26, 1951 [June 26, 1950], No. 15106/51. Class 142(2) In a loom wherein the shuttle passes over a horizontal reed between vertically disposed sheets of warp, the driving shaft 13, half-speed cam shaft 14, and transmission gearing are housed in a casing 11 and are provided with pressure lubrication by a pump 12. The loom may form one of a number of units arranged in groups side by side and back to back on a common framework as described in Specification 678,170. Stop motions. Droppers 101, 102, mounted above toothed bars, are supported on rods in an inclined position and drop when a warp thread breaks. If a shuttle fails to box, the swell and lever 82 are not moved and a lever 81 remains in a raised position and engages a stop 80, which is in the form of a leaf spring and is mounted on' the driving shaft 13. The lever 81 and its mounting 84 are moved by the stop 80 and a portion 84a of the mounting moves the knocking-off handle 85 to stop the loom. Shedding mechanism. The healds 2 are connected by links to a member 18 that is reciprocated through members 19, 20, 22 from a cam 23. Beating-up. The reed is moved upwards to beat-up the weft by a cam 26 that engages a roller 25 carried by an arm 24 mounted on a slay sword 17 pivoted at 16. Adjustment is provided by nuts 27 and by slots for bolts 29. The slay falls slightly as the shuttle is picked and rises slightly during the shuttle flight so that the shuttle falls on to the reed when leaving the box and falls into the opposite box. Control panel. Visual control means is provided on a panel for the warp let-off, fabric take-up, warp tension, and for the pressure of the lubricating oil. Pick counters may be provided. The board may also contain a handwheel for adjusting the warp tension and may have another wheel for regulating the swell pressure.
