In apparatus for forcing liquids under gaseous pressure, the liquid is placed in the container fitted with a controllable outlet, together with a propellant liquid which vaporises to force the liquid through the outlet and means are provided for promoting this vaporisation which comprises extended surfaces having many small points and cavities, and may comprise unglazed porous ceramic chips or chips of soft glass or the inside of the container may be treated to provide the surface. An example of a propellant is a fluorinated hydrocarbon, usually chlorinated.
