Abstract
715,489. Automatic voltage control systems. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 9, 1952 [Dec, 10, 1951], No. 28895/51. Class 38(4) In a pulse controlled current interrupted inductor E.H.T. system the voltage induced in a secondary coil coupled to the E.H.T. generating coil in the anode circuit of the pulsed valve is rectified and utilized to vary the pulse frequency to maintain constant E.H.T. In Fig. 2 a multi-vibrator, associated with valves 11 and 12, applies pulses to the grid circuit of a valve 4 so that a high voltage is produced across an anode inductance 7. This voltage, which is rectified by a diode 9 to produce an E.H.T. supply, e.g. for the cathode-ray tube in a television receiver, is maintained constant by providing inductance 7 with a secondary winding 25 the voltage induced in which is applied to a negativey biased diode 27 so that, when the E.H.T. voltage rises above a predetermined desired value, a direct voltage is developed across a resistor 29 to correct the E.H.T. voltage by applying grid bias to valve 11 and thereby controlling pulse periodicity of the multivibrator. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a blocking oscillator, the pulse periodicity of which is also controlled by grid bias, replaces the multi-vibrator.
