Class 98(2) A photographic image-transfer apparatus for use in the process of Specification 655,274 comprises a container for processing liquid, said container having an opening for inserting an exposed sheet, supporting means external of the container for an image-receiving sheet, and a pressure device (e.g. a roller) mounted on an arm rotatable between operative and inoperative positions such that in the former it presses against co-operating means disposed near the entrance to the container to exert pressure on the two sheets as they are withdrawn in superposed relation between the pressure device and said co-operating means. In one embodiment, a tank 10 (Fig. 1) contains processing liquid 16 and a pressure roller 20 is mounted on arms 36 and is moved between an inoperative position (Fig. 1) and an operative position (Fig. 2), by depressing the handle 42. A squeegee is mounted frictionally on the bearings of roller 20. In operation the exposed sensitized sheet 11 is inserted into the tank 10, (Fig. 1) and an image-receiving sheet 13 is inserted into tray 12 above the tank. Stops 23 and 25 are operable to allow sheets of two different lengths to be used. After development the handle 42 is depressed and roller 20 presses the two sheets together against plate 18 (Fig. 2). The ends of the sheets are then grasped and pulled together under the roller, the squeegee 19 removing excess solution from sheet 11. A thin layer of the unhardened gelatin on sheet 11 is thus transferred to sheet 13. Further layers of unhardened gelatin may be transferred to sheet supports by repeating the process until the gelatin is exhausted. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 8 the sensitized sheet 11 is developed in tank 62 and the receiving sheet is inserted between roller 60 and guide 66 while they are in the inoperative position shown by dashed lines. After development a layer of unhardened gelatin is transferred by bringing roller 60 to bear on roller 59, and pulling the sheets together through the rollers. Squeegee 64 acts against roller 65 to remove excess solution as before.
