Class 75 (2) A light diffusing screen comprises at least two similar light transmitting strips of moulded synthetic plastic material each strip consisting of separate panel elements connected one to the other so that adjacent panel elements can be brought to various angular positions about an axis transverse to the longitudinal extent of the strip and has means for supporting the strips side by side so that the panels of one strip are aligned with corresponding panels of a neighbouring strip in order that the assembled strips constitute a screen which appears to be continuous. The strip is formed by a number of arcuate panels one of which, Fig. 1, has holes 5 formed in discs 4 at the end of flanges 2, 3, to engage pins 12 on the flanges 10, 11 of another panel, Fig. 2, when sprung thereover. Alternatively the strip may be formed of a number of panels provided with hooks 24, Fig. 5, at one end and pins 23 at the other. Shoulders 21a, 22a prevent the hooks 24 moving out of engagement with the pins 23 of an adjacent panel. The panels, Figs. 1 and 2, may move freely relatively to one another to hang in a catenary shape, Fig. 4, or they may be locked in position by fingers 30, Fig. 6, formed on the periphery of the disc 4 and engaging teeth 31 formed on the flange 11 or alternatively, Fig. 7 (not shown), by pins or rivets passed through holes in the disc 4 and flange 11, or by non-circular pegs 12 engaging non-circular holes 5. The panels have narrow flanges 7, 8, Fig. 1, or 18, 19, Fig. 5, formed along their edges and are provided with protrusions or indentations to render them translucent. The panels may be made of polystyrene or of a lumiscent material such as a flourescent plastic material. The strips, Fig. 4, may be joined together by pins or rivets passed through holes 6. The ends of the screen may be closed by leaves of material Fig. 3 (not shown) attached on the flanges 2 and 3 of the end panels and arranged to move freely over one another when the strip is deflected about the pivotal axes.
