Abstract

709,194. Gauge glasses. ANGLOIRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., and CARTER, D. O. Oct 24, 1952 [Nov. 2, 1951], No. 25636/51. Class 123(1) A gauge glass 16 for a liquid container 11, e.g. for hydrofining crude petroleum, has # inch to 3/16 inch behind it a wire gauze reflecting surface 15 to assist in reading the liquid level. The gauze 15 is the base of a stainless steel gauze channel member 14 which is a push fit in a flat sleeve 10 welded to the container 11 to cover a series of communication holes 13 therein.. A frame 17 bolted to the sleeve 10 secures the glass 16, which has four vertical V- section grooves in its rear surface. The gauze is of 3/64 inch aperture. An electriclamp may illuminate the glass.
