Abstract
708,300. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. PAMPHONIC REPRODUCERS, Ltd., and MARRIOTT, P. A. Sept. 23, 1952 [Sept. 24, 1951], No. 22287/51. Class 40 (2). A magnetic transducing apparatus employs a thin flexible disc record 6 which projects beyond the edge of the turntable 1, and is guided and supported at the edge by pressure pads 17 on the opposite face of the disc to the heads. The transducers 9 and the pads 17 are mounted on brackets 12 secured to arms 18 movable about the axis of the turntable 1. Box-like structures 13 contain weights 14 on which the pads 17 are secured. The weights are movable in a vertical direction and are prevented from falling out of the structures 13 by screws 15 which engage grooves 16 in the weights 14. The arms are adjustable circumferentially, within the limits of arcuate slots 20, and secured in desired position by screws 22, whereby the time interval between recording and reproducing may be adjusted. By this arrangement the sounds relayed to loudspeakers in a public address system may be delayed so as to conform with the time taken for the original spoken sounds to reach the loudspeaker locations, erazing of the record being automatically effected by erazing heads placed in a position after the reproducing heads.
