Abstract

708,163. Silage. FRIGIERI, A. G., and FRIGIERI, U. L. May 19, 1952 [May 18, 1951], No. 12650/52. Class 5 (1) Silage material within a ring B is compressed by rollers 7, 14, 15, the ring and the rollers, together with an actuating motor 7a, being supported by lattice work from a cross girder 3 mounted on a central column A stayed by chains 1a. The roller 7 driven through gearing from the motor 7a, is conical and compresses the periphery of the enclosed material, and the central accumulator is pressed down by rollers 15 on a framework 16, 17, 18. As the roller 7 moves it rises carrying with it the ring B and supporting girder 3, and leaving a smooth compressed edge of the exposed lower part beneath the ring. A share E with a blade 19 moving in advance of the roller 7 turns inwardly any material protruding beyond the periphery. The ring B is made of a number, which may vary according to the diameter, of elements detachably connected together by fasteners 2.
