Class 106 (1) In an electric adding device for binary numbers represented by series-mode pulse trains, the pulse trains are applied via input terminals 1, 2 and a channel 10 to the input 3 of the first of two cascade-connected bi-stable trigger stages I, II forming a pulse counter to which resetting pulses are periodically applied from 13, the channel 10 including delay means and so coupling stage II to input 3 that a carry pulse is applied thereto as a result of stage II having been actuated (representing carry " I "): and reading pulses from 12 are periodically applied to a gate 6 which is opened by stage I, if actuated (representing " 1 "), to allow a pulse to appear in the output (sum) channel 7. The instants of application of the input and carry pulses at input 3 and of the read and reset pulses at 12, 13 are all out of phase with one another. In particular, they may occur in a regular cyclic sequence in which every two consecutive instants are spaced by #=1/5# where # is the digit interval of the series-mode trains. In Fig. 4 the input trains are applied simultaneously and the pulses are phase-displaced by T=2e in element 20. If trigger II is actuated, a read pulse from 12 is allowed through gate 8 to produce a carry pulse on channel 10 which is delayed by 3# elements 18 and 20 before reaching input 3. Various other arrangements of delay element(s) in channel 10 are shown, some of which are adapted to receive input trains phase-displaced by #. In another form, Fig. 10, channel 10 is directly connected to stage II and the carry pulse is produced when the triggers are reset and is delayed by e in element 26; a detailed circuit diagram of this arrangement is given, Fig. 11 (not shown).
