Abstract

705,205. Packages. SHRIMPTON & FLETCHER, Ltd. July 31, 1952 [Aug. 2, 1951], No.18290/51. Class 94 (1) Hypodermic needles or articles of similar shape are packaged on a card 13 formed with apertures 14 which receive and retain the mounts 10, 12 of the needles, the card being of shallow concave or other shallow trough-like form so that the sharp ends of the needles lie close to the face of the card. The trough-like formation of the card may be produced by a pressing operation, by scoring and bending the card or, as shown, by acting on opposite faces thereof with complimentary male and female dies to form a depression 24 dividing the card into two portions 25, 26 inclined at an obtuse angle, e.g. 176 degrees. The central portions 19 ofthe needles may be covered by a strap 20 having end flaps or lugs 21 passing through slots in the card and bent over to lie against the rear face thereof. The card and needles may be enclosed in a transparent or other envelope 22 having a heat or pressure-sealed end closure 23.
