Abstract

704,309. Wiring arrangements. PIERCE FOUNDATION, J. B. May 13, 1952 [July 25, 1951], No. 12148/52. Class 38 (4) A wiring installation comprises a flat stri cable 11 having attached thereto a connector such as 12, through which the cable is energize from, say an existing socket 10, and provide along its length with fittings, such as outle sockets 13, 18 or lamp holders 19, 20, ther being also a terminating fitting, such as a socke 15, for covering the ends of the conductors of the cable. The cable comprises a coplanar pail of heavy and flexible wire conductors embedded in the edge portions of a semi-rigid insulating strip of, say, plasticized polyvinyl chloride, the centre portion of the strip being in the form of a web, which is perforated at intervals to receive tacks or other fixing means. The strip is sufficiently flexible to be bent or twisted to desired shape and is sufficiently rigid both to maintain that shape subsequently and to support the fittings in the absence of supplementary supporting means. The connection between the fittings and the conductors is of a form not necessitating the severing of the latter. Specifications 626,138, 630,096, 701,052, 702,438 and 702,868, [all in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
