Abstract

The invention comprises quaternary ammonium compounds derived from para-tertiaryoctylphenoxyalkylamines by quaternating with an alkylating or aralkylating agent. The alkylene group may contain from 2-4 carbon atoms. Examples of the products b -paratertiaryoctyl-phenoxy-ethyl-diethyl - methyl - ammonium para - toluene sulphonate, -triethyl ammonium bromide, and -diethyl benzyl ammonium bromide and chloride are given, obtained by the action of the corresponding quaternating agents on b -para-tertiaryoctylphenoxyethyl-diethylamine.
