Abstract

Class 3(1) [Also in Group XV] A model layout which may be enclosed within a case for display purposes comprises a platform 12 naving an endless slot 13 through which projects an arm 23 linked to a model train 17 and secured to a circular disc 18. An electric motor 28, by means of reduction gear and belt drive causes a sleeve 21, arms 19 and disc 18 to revolve, thus propelling train 17 around a circular track 13a. The slot 13 is concealed by a strip of material which is displaceable by the arm 23. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the circular disc is supported on carrier wheels or rollers one of which acts as a friction drive and is provided with a pulley groove for the belt. drive. In a further embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), an endless chain is linked to the train and moves on four sprocket wheels, one of which is keyed to a shaft which is belt driven by the electric motor. When an oval track is provided a vertical extension of the motor shaft may have a horizontal arm which is slidably or telescopically linked with the model vehicle. Signals and traffic lights, for example, may be operated by contacts actuated by cams and starting and stopping the vehicle may be effected by coin or disc feed mechanism.
