In a table game in which a light ball or puck is moved over a board 20 by the impact of statuettes 32 standing on substantially conical bases 33 moved by interaction between magnetic material in the bases and magnets on handles manipulated under the board, the face of the magnet is or can be placed at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the handle. In a modified form the magnetic material may be on the handle and the magnet in the base. As shown in Fig. 7, a horse-shoe magnet 36 is mounted rigidly on the handle 39, has the ends of its limbs forming a flat upper face and has its axis of symmetery at right-angles to the handle so that it pulls better in the line of the handle than sideways. The axis may, however, be in line with the handle to give a stronger sideways pull. As shown in Fig. 9, a plate-like magnet 46 is carried on a base 45 pivoted in a cradle 46 fixed to a handle 47. Long and short handled magnets may be provided. A boundary 22 and detachable goals 27 are provided, the board 20 being perforated at 28 in the goals to slow down the ball which may be grooved for the same purpose. Each corner of the board is fitted with screwed feet for levelling purposes. The ball may have a segment struck off and may be fitted with magnetic material so that it can be directly moved by the magnets. The board is perforated at the starting positions of the statuettes. To prevent players acting on their opponents' pieces, one set of statuettes carries magnetic material and the other magnets, the players using operating magnets and magnetic material respectively. According to the Provisional Specification, the board comprises a printed sheet sandwiched between two laminae, the upper of which is transparent.
