Abstract

The invention comprises alkyl - phenyl trichloro - silanes having one or two straight chain alkyl substituent groups containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms and alkyl-benzyl trichlorosilanes having one or two straight chain alkyl substituent groups containing from 1 to 12 carbon atoms. The silanes may be prepared by means of the Grignard reaction. In the examples the following compounds are prepared p - amylphenyl-, o- and p - amylbenzyl-, 3,5-diamylphenyl-, p - hexylphenyl-, 3,5- diethylbenzyl-, p - butylphenyl-, p-dodecyl-, p - laurylphenyl-, o and pmethylbenzyl- and o- and p-ethylbenzyl - trichlorosilanes.
