Abstract

697,494. Amusement apparatus. BERG, N. VAN DEN. April 24, 1951.. [Sept. 29, 1950;. Feb. 5, 1951] No. 9507/51. Class 132 (i). A rocking device comprises a base frame, a seat carried on a member rockably mounted on the base frame and operating means pivoted to the member adjacent the seat and to one end of a rigid rod whose other end is pivoted to the base frame so that the occupant of the seat can rock the seat up and down. As shown, a lever 3 is pivoted on a connecting rod 9 mounted on brackets 12 forming part of a base frame 1. A seat 2 is mounted on one end of lever 3 and the other end is secured by one of the eyelets 14, to a tension spring 4 connected, adjustably by set screws 8, to a rod 5 forming part of base frame 1. Pivoted to lever 3 is a lever 16 having handle 11 and pedals 17 and pivotally connected to lever 16 and rod 5 is bar 6. Thus, by pulling and pushing on the handles 11 and pedals 17, the device may be actuated. In a modification lever 3 and spring 4 may be replaced by spring band on which the seat may be adjustably mounted. In further modifications the tension spring 4 may be replaced by rubber bands or a compression spring.
