Abstract

<PICT:0696068/IV (a)/1> Dough &c. is moulded by means of a roller the moulding part of which consists of one or more polymers and/or copolymers of unsaturated organic compounds, e.g. polymers of acrylic and methacrylic acid esters, especially methacrylic acid methyl ester, acrylic nitrile, vinyl chloride or acetate, vinylidene chloride, styrol, allyl esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid, allyl diglycol carbonate and diallyl esters of phthalic acid, succinic acid, oxalic acid and phenylphosphinic acid, with or without fillers, colouring matter &c. In examples, (2) a hollow metal roller 1 has circumferential ribs 3 which define circumferential hollows. These hollows are filled with a composition 4 comprising polymethyl methacrylate (95 per cent), graphite, talc and carnauba wax. The mould recesses 5 are then filled in; (3) a roller is provided with square depression in its surface. These depressions are filled with a polymer-monomer methyl methacrylate mix containing carbon black, stearic acid and benzoyl peroxide, and a lead matrix the surface of which corresponds to the goods to be produced is pressed into the mix. The roller is then heated to complete the polymerization and the matrix is removed, leaving mould recesses in the hardened polymeric material in the depressions; (4) the monomer-polymer mix comprises a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile, polymethyl methacrylate and monomeric methyl methacrylate.
