692,843. Photographic contact-printing apparatus. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (General Aniline & Film Corporation). Aug. 27, 1951, No. 20168/51. Class 98 (ii). [Also in Group XL (a)] The mounting of a tubular discharge lamp 12 comprises a convex reflector 19 behind which is an elongated duct 13, closed at both ends and having an exhaust outlet 16 at one end; both reflector and duct having a number of air inlet holes, as at 17, 18, 20, through which the heated air is continually drawn and expelled through outlet 16 by a pump, to prevent overheating of the lamp. The application illustrated is of contact printing apparatus, in which a diazosensitized material, in contact with the original, is passed over a rotating transparent cylinder 10 of heat-resistant glass, inside which is mounted a high-intensity mercury vapour discharge lamp as described above. A semi. cylindrical glass member 21 acts as a partial heat shield, while permitting an unobstructed passage of light to part of the cylinder 10.
