Abstract

692,783. Making veneers. HART, M. May 3, 1951 [Feb. 3, 1950], No. 2906/50. Class 145 (i). A rotary cut veneer-making machine has additional knives 11 adapted to be fed forwardly manually or by remote control by e.g. solenoids. These knives are manipulated to make parallel cuts 12 around imperfections 8, 9 in the log and subsequent veneer so that when the chipping knife 7 is operated the cuts 10 may be manually positioned to cut out the imperfections.
