Abstract

A container for blood samples or the like comprises a series of cup-like receptacles having transparent bottoms, the undersides of which are raised above the level of the container base. In one embodiment, Figs. 1, 2, 4, 7, the container comprises a portion 1 having depressions 3 forming the receptacles, a hinged section 2 having holes 5 coinciding with the depressions 3, and a cover 13 sliding in the section 2. Recesses 4 may receive transparent plates 9 covering groups of depressions 3, and a sheet 6 bearing identifying markings <PICT:0690260/III/1> <PICT:0690260/III/2> <PICT:0690260/III/3> <PICT:0690260/III/4> <PICT:0690260/III/5> <PICT:0690260/III/6> may fit between the members 1, 2. The samples may be mixed with reagents &c. in the containers by introducing steel balls into each receptacle and agitating the container. The apertures 5 are bevelled to prevent overflow of the contents during such mixing.
