In the blowing of slag-wood the slag is conducted directly from the tap-hole of a furnace to the blowing. jet, and changes in the viscosity of the slag caused by fluctuations of temperature and/or basicity are allowed for by adjustments of the cross-sectional area of the slag stream to the jet. This is effected by a slag launder 1, the cross-sectional area of the outlet 2 of which is controlled by a slide 4 guided along horizontal slides 3 and having a trough shaped recess 8. The jet 9 is adjustable vertically and in two horizontal directions at right angles to each other.
