Abstract
685,976. Gas burners. GREAVES, A. H. April 16, 1951 [March 2, 1951], No. 5138/51. Class 75(i) [Also in Group XXII] A flat flame gas burner comprises a dome-shaped or flat-metal disc 7 having a raised ridge 10 which is notched through both sides to form a flame port 8. The periphery of the disc 7 is clamped against an internal shoulder 6 on a tube 2 by the upper rim 9 of the latter which is pressed or rolled inwards. The flame port may be formed by piercing the hole in the disc 7 either before or after forming the ridge 10. In another construction the tube is formed as a die casting or hot pressing, the dome-shaped disc being first inserted in the mould. When the metal is melted the outer periphery of the disc is immersed therein to form a gas-tight joint on solidification. As a further alternative the disc and tubular body may be formed in one piece as a deep drawing.
