Abstract
685,839. Spinning centrifuge. HAMPEL, H. July 27, 1949. No. 19808/49. Class 120 (ii). Also in Group XXXV. A suspended textile spinning centrifuge comprises a spinning pot secured below a driving motor and a hollow driving shaft through which the material to be spun passes to the spinning pot and is suspended, at a position above the spinning pot and preferably from its motor housing, by a Cardan joint. In the form shown, the textile spinning centrifuge comprises a motor housing 1 containing the stator coil 2 of an electromotor, a shaft 6, on the upper end of which is mounted the rotor 7 of the electromotor and to the lower end of which is secured a circular disc 8. A spinning pot 9, in which the spun cake 47 is formed, is secured to the underside of the disc 8. On the motor housing are mounted two diametrically opposite pins 28 which engage and are free to rotate in corresponding bores in a ring 29. The ring 29 is also rotatably mounted, by means of two diametrically opposite pegs 30, in a bearing bracket 31, the axes of the pegs 30 being at 90‹ to those of pins 28. A rubber ring 32, or other resilient means, is provided on the bearing bracket 31, the upper surface of said ring pressing against the rim of a cover 34 screwed on to the end of the motor housing, thus damping any gyroscopic movements of the centrifuge, which may occur in its operation. The bearings 4 and 5 are lubricated by a continuously circulating stream of oil from an oil container comprising the disc 8 and a cylindrical casing 13, by way of two channels 18 in a ring 15, each channel being connected with a rising tube 19 which carries the oil into the space above the ball race 4. The oil is forced into the channels 18 by virtue of the rotation of the container. The thread delivery funnel comprises an outer funnel 40 connected in a liquid tight manner with an inner funnel 42, which has a short discharge tube 43 entering into the funnel tube 36 of the outer funnel 40. A liquid, vaporous or gaseous medium may be fed through the connecting pipe 41 to assist the passage of the thread to be spun, down the tube 36. The spinning pot 9 is enclosed in a steel casing 56 provided on the inside and outside with a corrosion proof coating, and which screws into the casing 55 of the bearing housing 3. The lower end of the casing 56 is provided with a cover 59, which may be hinged to the casing and provided with a locking device 63. The cover 59 has a central aperture through which any liquid accompanying the thread is discharged. A rubber band is looped across the bottom of the spinning pot to prevent the spun cake falling out of the pot when the centrifuge is at rest.
