Abstract

684,030. Bottle crates. ESSEX AERO, Ltd., and CROSS, R. J. Oct. 27, 1950 [Nov. 10, 1949; May 3, 1950], No. 28837/49 and No. 10913/50. Class 18. The resilient buffer member 1 positioned in an aperture in the floor plate of a bottle crate as described in Specification 632,549 is secured in position by a metal insert 5, 6 passing through a central aperture in the member 1 and expanded at each end so as to grip the member internally and to cause the member to grip the edge of the aperture in the plate. The insert may be in the form of a tube 5 which bears against the inside of the member 1, or it may be in the form illustrated in Fig. 3 in which it has a central web 6a, the portions 6 extending from the central web being expanded to grip the member. Other arrangements in which the insert comprises a central web having extending portions fitting close to the member 1 and in which the insert comprises two truncated discs secured end to end so that their edges are expanded to grip the member 1 are also described.
