Abstract
b -Diethylaminoethyl p-aminobenzoate salts of penicillins in hydrated form are obtained by bringing together, in anhydrous methanol, an anhydrous salt of b -diethylaminoethyl p-amino benzoate and an anhydrous salt of penicillin, thereafter adding to the mixture an amount of water in excess of one molecular proportion and then separating the precipitated hydrate of the b -diethylaminoethyl p-aminobenzoate salt of penicillin. Specified anhydrous salts of penicillins are the sodium, potassium, N-ethylhexamethyleneimine and N-ethylpiperidine salts of penicillin G. The hydrochloride is the preferred salt of b -diethylaminoethyl p-aminobenzoate. Specification 654,279 is referred to.
