Abstract

A coating composition comprises an aqueous suspensoid of a polymer or copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and 1 to 90 per cent by weight of chromic acid based on the combined chromic acid and polymer content; specified copolymers are those of tetrafluoroethylene with ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene. The composition may also contain zinc phosphate and dispersing agents such as the sodium salt of sulphated long chain alcohols. The compositions are applied to metal, glass, and ceramic, and the film of particles of tetrafluoroethylene polymer fused by heating.ALSO:Metal reaction vessels exposed to corrosive substances at high temperatures, and glass or metal acid containers, are coated with polytetrafluoroethylene or copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene with other polymerizable materials such as ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene.ALSO:Anti-sticking metal moulds for rubber products are coated with a composition comprising an aqueous suspensoid of polytetrafluoroethylene or copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene with other polymerizable materials such as ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene, and 1-9 per cent by weight of chromic acid.ALSO:Greaseless bread pans, muffin tins, and cookie sheets are manufactured by coating with polytetrafluoroethylene, or copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene with other polymerizable materials such as ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene.
