Abstract

677,359. Winding yarn. ARUNDEL, COULTHARD & CO., Ltd. Jan. 1, 1951 [Jan. 4, 1950], No. 190/50 Class 120(ii) A yarn winding machine of the kind set forth in Specification 569,765 has a setting on and knockoff arrangement comprising a oneway clutch between a dash pot cylinder j and the spindle b of a plunger c for raising the yarn package at knock-off, the arrangement being characterized in that there is a transverse slot d in the cover, a of the pot j to one side of the spindle b, with a roller f in said slot bearing upon the spindle and upon an inclined wall e of the slot d so that the roller wedges the spindle to the pot when the pot lifts, the roller f being carried at its ends in a frame g which, in the winding position, holds the roller in a non-wedging position so that the spindle b can move freely. The roller is grooved peripherally where it engages the spindle b and the frame g bears against the upright j at i and is furnished with an abutment h to un-wedge the roller f when the member is lowered.
