Delivering articles from piles.-Post-cards to be delivered singly from a stack in a coin-freed machine are each mounted on a corrugated paper base to provide support and make the cards of a convenient thickness. The bottom card, together with its cardboard mount, is delivered from a stack 18, shown in plan in Fig. 1, by a sliding pusher 13 when a handle 9 projecting through a slot 20 in the casing of the machine is turned about its pivot on a bracket 10 after being released by the insertion of a coin. Coin action, weight.-The handle 9 is normally locked by the engagement in a hole 12 in the handle of a pin 11 on a coin balance 5. A coin delivered by a shoot 19 turns the balance 5 about its hinge 7 until it rests on an arm 15, carried by the handle 9, with the pin 11 raised from the hole 12. When the handle 9 is moved to deliver a post-card the movement of the rod 15 permits the coin balance to tip further to deliver the coin to a cash box (not shown). The centre of gravity of the balance is so placed that it rests against a stop in the coin discharging position until restored to its normal locking position by the arm 15 as the handle 9 is returned by a spring 17.
