Abstract
676,119. Reducing ores. BURSTLEIN, E. M., and SOC. DES ACIERES DE LONGWY, SOC. ANON. Jan. 16, 1950 [Jan. 24, 1949],No. 1088/50. Class 59. A process for concentrating moistures without any preliminary heating or drying treatment of the ore consists in subjecting the ore to a structural disintegration for liberating, at least partly, the different constituents held in the conglomerate; passing the disintegrated products of the ore successively through non-clogging sifting means adapted for separating said disintegrated products into moist fractions in accordance with the granular size, each fraction including the granular sizes between two limits determined by the sifting means, feeding at least one of said moist fractions on to means for separating the products in accordance with their densities the operating surface of which is rendered non-cloggable by a supply of heat thereto sufficient for preventing moistening of said surface through contact with said moist fraction, to form concentrates of different constituents contained in the fractions; and collecting the desired concentrates for further utilization. Crushed ore from a gyratory or jaw crusher c passes to a multi-deck sieve s<1> whence conglomerate not passing the top deck a<1> is fed to a centrifugal disintegrator D whence fines pass to a agglomerating plant A and the rest of the disintegrated material to a sieve s<2>, where conglomerate rejected by its top deck a<2> is recycled to the disintegrator D. The individual decks of each sieve s<1>, s<2> differ only slightly in mesh and corresponding decks of the two sieves may have the same mesh. Material passing through the lowest decks d<1>, d<2>, as it is of a grain size such that it comprises almost only the constituents desired, is fed direct to the agglomerating plant A. Material from the other decks passes to pneumatic separating boards E where separation of the grains according to density takes place, the lighter grains which are not wanted being blown off at r while the heavier grains pass to the plant A. A number of disintegrators D and associated multi-deck sieves s<2> may be used in series, oversize from a sieve passing forward to the next disintegrator, oversize from the last sieve being recycled to its preceding disintegrator. Specification 665,313 is referred to as disclosing an example of a non-clogging deck.
