674,247. Silica refractories. MAXPLANCK-INSTITUT FUR EISENFORSCHUNG, and TROMEL, G. Aug. 19, 1949, No. 21645/49. Class 22 Silica refractories are prepared by adding to a mass consisting mainly of quartzite sufficient, but not an excess, of phosphoric acid so that all the contained alumina is converted to orthophosphate. Ammonium phosphate may also be used.
