Abstract
Organo siloxanes are obtained by the hydrolysis and condensation of organo silicon compounds of the general formula Y2RSiCH2SiRY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom.ALSO:The invention comprises organo silicon compounds of the formula Y2RSiCH2SiRY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical and Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom, and a process for the preparation of the above compounds by reacting a compound of the general formula X12RSiCH2SiX13 in the liquid phase with RMgX, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, X is a halogen atom or an alkoxy radical and X1 is a halogen atom, the latter compound being employed in a proportion of between 0.5 and 1.5 mols. per mol. of the former. The group R may be the methyl to octadecyl group, phenyl, tolyl or xylyl group, and the group Y may be chlorine, bromine or ethoxyl. In the examples, the following compounds are prepared: Cl2CH3 SiCH2SiCH3Cl2 and C6H5Cl2SiCH2SiCl2CH3.ALSO:Foam inhibiting agents for aqueous and non-aqueous systems containing organic materials comprise organo silicon compounds of the general formula Y2 R Si CH2 Si RY2, wherein each R is an alkyl or monocyclic aryl radical, and Y is an alkoxy radical or halogen atom.
