Abstract
667,331. Determining condition of telephone lines. SOC. ANON. DE TELECOMMUNICATIONS. Feb. 21, 1950 [March 25, 1949; Jan. 3, 1950], No. 4484/50. Class 37. Relates to two-way transmission systems in which signals in one direction along line 1 occupy one wave-band and signals in the other direction along line 2 occupy another waveband; according to the invention, at test frequency lying between the two wave-bands is transmitted from 4 and passes over a tuned coupling 5 for transmission back to 9 where its amplitude is compared with that of the original signal to determine whether the lines and repeaters are satisfactory. The equipments 4, 9, may be switched so as to test a plurality of lines, Fig. 3 (not shown). If equipments 4, 9 are available at a repeater, by applying them to the input and output, the gain may be measured. An equipment 9 at any repeater may be used to indicate transmission level.
