Abstract

A dielectric for cable insulation, particularly for terminations and joints, is obtained by causing a liquid polyester formed from an unsaturated alcohol containing up to 10 carbon atoms and an acid such as oxalic, citric, titanic or adipic, to copolymerize with styrene at room temperature in a suitable mould in the presence of a catalyst, preferably benzoyl peroxide. Fillers, such as mica and titanium dioxide, or an accelerator or oxidation inhibitor such as a solution of cobalt naphthenate, may be added.
