Abstract
665,121. Spectacle frames. DOLEZAL, K. Jan. 24, 1949 [May 7, 1948; Nov. 19, 1948], Nos. 1843/49 and 1845/49. Class 97 (i). A frame having rims, a bridge and side arms is moulded as an integral unit from a plastic capable of molecular orientation by cold pressing or rolling, and subjecting the portion interconnecting each side arm and the associated rim to molecular orientation by cold pressing or rolling to give the said portions sufficient strength and resiliency to cause grip to the head of the wearer and to permit the arms to fold inwards to a flat position when out of use, thus obviating the need for hinges. Suitable plastics referred to are polyamides, polyurethanes, high molecular polyesters, polyvinylchloride and polyvinylidenechloride. Where the frame is of transparent plastic the eye-pieces may be moulded integral therewith. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a frame of plastic in which, instead of cold pressing or rolling, the interconnecting portions are flattened and either slotted or twisted to permit bending. This Specification also describes a metal frame in which the bridge, rims and side arms are made separately and formed by welding or soldering, or in which rims and arms are in one piece and the bridge joined thereto or, as shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), the portions 1; 2 and 3 are in one piece and the lower portions of the rims joined thereto by screws or by welding. The portions 4 may be flattened or arranged in helical or waveform, Figs. 2 and 3 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
