Abstract
663,956. Tubular heat-exchange elements. CRANE PACKING, Ltd., and WILKINSON, F. C. W. April 20, 1950 [May 16, 1949], No. 12974/49. Class 64(iii) An insert or liner for tube ends (in particular for condenser tubes) comprises two interfitting parts, viz: a mouthpiece 1 of hard material and of flared or streamline flow formation and a tubular body piece 2 of resilient material and of preselected length, one end of the tubular body piece embracing a tubular stem portion of the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece may be made of synthetic plastic and the tubular body piece may be of rubber. The mouthpiece and the tubular body member may be united by a simple push-fit interconnection which may be strengthened by adhesive or adhesive binding or alternatively the stem portion of the mouthpiece may be formed with a helical thread or annular grooves to receive corresponding helical or annular projections formed in the bore at one end of the tubular body member. According to the Provisional Specification the mouthpiece may be of resilient material and the tubular body piece may be of hard non-resilient material.
