Abstract
663,455. Valve relay circuits. BRITISH TABULATING MACHINE CO., Ltd. Oct. 28, 1949 [Nov. 17, 1948], No. 27707/49. Class 40 (vi). In a trigger-pair circuit comprising tetrode valves having cross couplings between their anode and control-grids the speed of operation is increased by capacitors connected between the anode of each valve and the screen grid of the other which reduce the effect of the interelectrode capacities and cause the voltages on the control and screen grid of each valve to change simultaneously in the same direction. The Figure shows a trigger-pair circuit comprising cross-connected tetrode valves A<SP>1</SP>, A<SP>2</SP> which is triggered by negative going pulses applied to the common anode circuit at terminal 32. The anode and control grids are cross-connected by the parallel connected capacitors and resistors 23, 20 and 26, 28 respectively and the inter-electrode capacities are reduced by the neutralizing networks 35, 36 and 37, 38 respectively, which lessen the tendency to parasitic oscillation at high operative speeds. The values of the capacitance and resistance in the series connected neutralizing networks is adjusted to effect a compromise between complete neutralization and the deleterious effect on speed of operation of capacitive loading of the output circuit. Resistors 24, 29 and 14, 17 are grid and anode stopper resistors respectively.
