A demonstration device in simulation of the spinal vertebrµ comprises several rigid sections 10 preferably of plastic composition such as polystyrene or polyethylene and spacing discs 11 cf highly compressible elastic material e.g. foam rubber alternately cemented together so that they may be freely distorted in any direction. The rigid sections 10 are convex on one side 12 and concave at the other 13 and are recessed at 16.
