Abstract
661,402. Shoulder pads. SPANEL, A. N. Jan. 20, 1949 [Jan. 27, 1948], No. 1622/49. Class 141. A shoulder pad of sponge rubber having an upper convex surface and a lower concave surface and tapering in wall thickness towards the side edges and longitudinally from a zone 12 at or adjacent to the outer edge 13 towards the inner end 14, is provided with a recess 17 in the concave surface to accommodate the shoulder bones of the wearer. This recess may be dropshaped as shown, or circular in plan or in the form of a channel extending to the outer edge. A cover of ribbed fabric may comprise an upper layer 11a with the grain of the fabric extending longitudinally and shaped by tucks, and a lower layer 11b with the grain on the bias, the layers being secured together around the edges of the pad by stitching s.
