Abstract
659,619. Bolted joints. ELLIOTT BROS. (LONDON), Ltd. Jan. 27, 1949, No. 2339. [Class 83 (iv)] A jointing strip 7 for use in making joints between adjacent marginal portions of sheets or plates 2 which are to be connected by a frame member 1, comprises a strip of flexible material having longitudinally extending recesses 8 each adapted to receive the marginal portion of one of the plates to be connected, the portions of the strip flanking each recess constituting inner and outer flanges 11, 12, the inner of which is clamped between the appropriate plate and the frame member to form a hermetic seal and the other of which extends over the securing means 3 into close contact with the exposed surface of the plate while being capable of elastic distortion to afford easy access to the securing means. Fig. 2 (not shown), shows an angle section frame member. The invention is stated to be of particular value in making casings or housings for food processing machines.
