Abstract
659,176. Drying-apparatus. LELLEP, O. G. Feb. 3, 1949, No. 3016. [Class 34(ii)] [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for drying and preheating moist granules of raw material, e.g. cement or lime, comprises a preheating chamber 17 formed with a wind box 18 and a drying chamber 26 formed with a wind box 28 fed with material by a permeable travelling grate 11 and supplied with waste gases from a rotary kiln 15, which gases pass successively through a duct 19, downwardly through that portion of the grate in the preheating chamber 17 into the wind box 18, through a fan 24, downwardly through that portion of the grate in the drying chamber 26 into the wind box 28 and finally through an exhaust fan 30. In a modification. Fig. 2 (not shown), the length of the wind box 28 is extended to enclose part of the space below the preheating chamber 17. The downward passage of the exhaust gases successively through incoming material in the preheating and drying chamber reduces the dust content of said gases to .15 per cent by weight of the treated material.
