[Class 37] A moving coil instrument comprises a magnet 1 having polepieces 2, 3 and contained within a moving coil 4, the whole being contained within a magnetically permeable casing having but one aperture 11 through which protrudes the spindle on which a needle 5 may be detachably fixed. The pivot bearings are adjustable to position the moving coil as required in the magnetic gap.
