Abstract

655,002. Cutlery &c. handles. GREEN, G. Aug. 24, 1948, No. 22294. [Class 61(i)] In a knife, fork or other article of cutlery a combined bolster and ferrule 1, Fig- 1, is provided with a single transverse slot at 2 for the tang 7 of the blade 3 and at its handle receiving end is formed at its extremity with a beaded or flanged edge 5 which provides thereat,. parallel therewith. an internal abutment shoulder 6 against which the end of the handle 4 seats either directly as shown in Fig. 1, or through the medium of an interposed fillet in the form of a centrally orificed plate 10 Fig. 2 or Fig. 3 (not shown). The bolster and ferrule is secured to the blade or tang. by means of solder 11. The tang 7 is a tight fit within the hole 8 in the handle 4 or is secured by cement or the like. In Fig. 2 a ferrule 9 is interposed between a pearl handle 4 and the bolster 1, the ferrule 9 being filled with cement.
